(Me in Lucca / Italy, summer vacation July 2001)

I was born in Velbert-Langenberg, Germany, a little town near Essen (60 km from Cologne) in 1968. When I went to high school, I discovered my love to electronic dance music, which began to grow in the early eighties. In 1984, when I was 16 years of age and permitted to go to discotheques, I discovered the Italo Disco sound with all its wonderful arrangements. I totally fall in love with this music.
The area I am living in is very densely populated, so in these days there were to find a lot of discotheques (most of them closed and have been replaced by others nowadays....what a pity...) and record stores around here, as you can imagine.
When I listened to records like CHANCE TO DESIRE, DON'T CRY TONIGHT or STAR in full power volume in the discos I felt like being in another world. So I started to collect the appropiate 12inches (and bought a lot...).
In the beginning of the nineties Italo Disco music became totally "unhip" in Germany and was deemed as to be ridiculous and cheap crap! Nevertheless, I continued buying the Italian imports just like Time Records releases until 1992, but had to realize that this was not the music anymore I basically loved, so I stopped ordering new releases (not a very easy decision).
Due to the fact that I liked house music, as well, and started to study economics beside my full time job, I neglected the Italo Disco music and even sold important parts of my collection.
When I finished the studies and had some more spare-time again, I had to face the fact that I really missed this unique and melodic Italo music. So I started to re-collect Italo and Euro Disco and still do! And I never regret to go on with this, as the today's music cannot move me as much as the eighties sound.

In addition to that nostalgic mind I love the current dance music from Italy, and there is a lot. Established by Italian dance projects like EIFFEL 65, MABEL or GIGI D'AGOSTINO the sounds, vocals (pronounciation of the English words) and attitude are very near to the 80s Italian releases, IMO, so worth to buy and listen to (see my nonstop megamixes in SPECIALS section).

This music is made in the country I love so much: I t a l y. The landscape, the language, the food, (in former times) the girls and the music, this country has so much to give. And great Italian pop artists, singing in Italian language. My absolutely favourite singer is AMEDEO MINGHI (see his own section here on the website, too), a cantautore with poetic lyrics, wonderful melodies and a voice that will touch your soul! Besides, I do like SPAGNA (indeed the same artist that brought us the Italo Disco smash hit EASY LADY in 1986 - she is very famous in Italy nowadays).

What do I do when I am not involved in music matters? I like hanging around with friends, going to the cinemas (I am working as a license acquisition in an Inflight Entertainment agency, which is a full content provider for movie pictures for exhibition onboard of airplanes, so my job requests a certain knowledge of feature films).
Another important part of my life is being an animal conservationist. Too much pain all around the world these creatures have to suffer from human beings.
